Sacramento Muslim Chamber of Commerce (SMMCC) – Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 July 2025
SMMCC respects the privacy of its members, event guests, website visitors, and all others who interact with us. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, the limited circumstances under which we share it, and the choices and rights you have regarding that information. It applies to information gathered through our website (sacmuslimchamber.org), mobile experiences we control, membership applications, event registrations, and any other services that reference this policy.
We collect two broad categories of data:
Category | Examples | Source |
---|---|---|
Personal Information | Name, postal address, email, telephone number, employer, payment details (e.g., last four digits of a credit card when you pay dues or event fees) | Provided by you via forms, email, phone, or secure payment pages |
Non-Personal / Usage Information | Browser type, IP address, device identifiers, pages visited, referring URLs, clicks, and aggregated analytics data | Collected automatically via cookies, pixels, and similar technologies |
Membership & Event Administration – to process applications, manage renewals, verify eligibility for benefits, and issue confirmations or receipts.
Service Delivery & Improvements – to maintain our website, analyze traffic patterns, and develop new programs relevant to our members.
Communications – to send newsletters, policy updates, event invitations, and limited promotional messages. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link.
Legal & Compliance – to satisfy tax, accounting, or regulatory obligations and to protect our rights or the safety of others.
These purposes reflect common chamber practices documented in regional policies.
We do not sell, trade, or rent your Personal Information.
We share data only with trusted service providers (e.g., payment processors, email platforms, SMS vendors) who are contractually bound to use it solely to provide services to SMMCC and to protect its confidentiality.
We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to prevent fraud or security threats.
Our site uses session and persistent cookies, web beacons, and similar tools to recognize repeat visitors, remember preferences, and compile aggregate statistics. You can disable cookies via your browser; some features may then be unavailable. The approach parallels that of neighboring chambers that outline cookie usage for analytics and site functionality.
Online payments are processed through PCI-compliant processors. SMMCC itself never stores full credit-card numbers; processors handle all sensitive payment data consistent with their own privacy policies.
If you opt into SMS updates, we will use your phone number only for the campaign(s) to which you subscribed. We do not share SMS consent or opt-in data with unrelated third parties.
California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)
You may request to know, access, correct, delete, or restrict the sale/sharing of your Personal Information and may opt out of targeted advertising. We will verify your request and respond within 45 days (extendable once, as permitted). We do not knowingly sell data, including that of minors.
Do Not Track – The Chamber currently does not respond to browser DNT signals; however, you can limit certain tracking by disabling cookies.
Email & Marketing Preferences – Unsubscribe links appear in every marketing email. Transactional or administrative notices (e.g., receipts, policy updates) are still sent when necessary.
We employ industry-standard safeguards (SSL/TLS encryption, access controls, routine backups) to protect Personal Information. Data is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes described or as required by law, after which it is securely deleted or anonymized.
Our services are directed to adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13 years of age and will promptly delete such data if discovered.
Our website may link to external sites (e.g., sponsors, partners). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites and encourage you to review their policies before providing information.
If you access our services from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S., where data-protection laws may differ.
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page and, when appropriate, notified by email or a prominent banner. Continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
